Ms. Takai was the Executive Vice President and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Meridian Health Plan and its affiliated companies.  Ms. Takai served as the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer (DoD CIO), where she provided strategy, leadership and guidance to create a unified information management and technology vision. Prior to her federal political appointment, Ms. Takai worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years before serving as Director of the Michigan Department of Information Technology (MDIT) and as CIO for the State of Michigan, followed by her role as CIO for the State of California. Ms. Takai led Michigan to rank number one, four years in a row, in digital government by the Center for Digital Government. Ms. Takai was also named "Public Official of the Year" by Governing magazine in 2005.  Ms. Takai is currently on the board of First Net as well as a member of the technical advisory boards of Palo Alto Networks, Gurucul, and Haystax Technologies.
