Joan Hart has led engineering, program management and continuous improvement activities for more than 30 years. Joan is currently Vice President of Program Management for ZF, a €36B global leader in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technology. In this role, Hart provides a central focus product development and program management process excellence throughout all divisions of the ZF group.
joined ZF in 2005 and has held several management roles in Business Excellence,
Value Management, Cost Engineering and Program Management for the company’s
Occupant Safety Systems, Steering Systems, Central Quality and Global
Development organizations. She started
her career at Honeywell Aerospace, where she worked for 16 years and held
positions of increasing responsibility in Systems Engineering, New Business
Development, Program Management and Engineering senior leadership. Throughout her career, Hart reached expert
levels in several technical fields including Astronaut Life Support and Fuel
Cells for Transportation. Hart has
published papers and/or given presentations for several organizations including
the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Annual Meeting, the International
Conference on Environmental Systems, the Partnership for a New Generation of
Vehicles, and was a keynote speaker at Woodward Aerospace Leadership Conference.
holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Michigan
Technological University and the University of Virginia. She also holds a Master's degree in Business
Administration (Finance and Marketing) from Loyola Marymount University. Hart is an ASQ-Certified Black Belt and a
PMI-Certified Project Management Professional.
She volunteers her time to
support a number of organizations including serving on the Executive Committee
for AutomotiveNext, mentoring young professionals as a part of "We Build
Character", and serving as a panelist for the Coalition of Minority
