About the Conference

Midwest Technology Leaders (MTL) is an exclusive gathering of the Midwest region’s top information executives — those committed to innovation, excellence and results.

This is the only Midwest-based IT executive symposium that combines an influential, exclusive audience and access to distinguished speakers, while supporting the advancement of information technology in the region.

The symposium is a nonpolitical, cross-industry, annual event, providing a platform to celebrate the achievements of this strong technology community. Together, this group of thought leaders is finding innovative approaches for IT and business challenges.

The delegation addresses the critical issues impacting the local and regional IT industry. Coming into its 14th year, the event attracts over 200 CIO and senior-level executives driving economies throughout the region.

In the spirit of giving back to the community that has supported MTL events, all proceeds from MTL 2018 will go to We Build Character’s Elevate Leadership Program. We Build Character is a not-for-profit organization focused on growing and strengthening Michigan’s workforce through powerful executive mentoring programs.

In this session, our emcee will introduce some newer CIOs in Michigan in a casual and comfortable setting. You'll get to know a little more of their background and what has led them to their current Michigan-based positions. This session is designed to allow these new CIOs to introduce themselves to their peers from the region and help to extend their personal networks as newer CIOs.

Presenter
Carlos Valdes-Dapena, Author,

Carlos’s talk challenges conventional approaches to corporate team building, something organizations spend tens of millions of dollars every year with little measurable impact. He discusses the insights he developed while working with Mars and offers a different way for organizations and groups to think about - and do something about – developing more effective teams and teamwork. Specifically, Carlos identified the critical link between two seemingly contradictory theories – what motivates high achieving individuals and what makes groups work effectively. His thinking and approach provide a straight-forward and practical way to unlock higher team performance.

The shift to the cloud has left many CIOs overwhelmed for a number of reasons: ecosystems are becoming more complex, and the decision of where to place your workloads –  whether it’s a public, private, or hybrid environment – contributes to the challenge. Beyond that, CIOs have to think about performance, scalability, security, compliance, licensing requirements, disaster recovery… All while remaining within a strict budget. Join Secure-24 and VMware for a panel discussion showcasing the benefits of a Multi-Cloud approach, and several best practices for ensuring your organization is running on the most ideal platform.
