We have all read the books and attended the training on Change Management. More power points and more training is not the answer. In this talk we discuss:
  • Why CIOs are making Change a top focus for them and their team

Life aboard a nuclear submarine is rough. A recent article on the just-launched USS South Dakota describes how 135 sailors have to take turns sleeping, as there are only 94 beds. Space is at a premium on this high-tech vessel with the dining room doubling up as an operating theater, and the torpedo room becoming the exercise and sleeping area. Getting used to a life of indistinguishable night and day, working and sleeping at odd hours, learning to make your way through narrow walkways without running into others, and maintaining a quiet and peaceful environment is not easy. It also requires great discipline and loyalty to strictly follow protocols and procedures that govern behavior during and after work hours. The service personnel operate in a culture of high-performance expectations where mistakes and failures can be catastrophic. Admiral Hyman Rickover, the father of the US Nuclear Navy, is credited with creating and sustaining such a high-reliability organization (HRO) that has an exemplary zero-failure track record over its sixty-plus year existence. The principles at the heart of this highly successful Nuclear Navy culture are integrity, depth of knowledge, procedural compliance, forceful backup, questioning attitude, and formality in communications.

The purpose of this talk is to share findings from a research project that builds on the HRO principles to guide cyber security practices. The study draws on the current body of knowledge as well as insights from expert interviews to validate the success factors. The research question driving the study is: How does an organization earn and maintain customer trust amid growing concerns of data safety and security? The overall goal is to help firms become and remain highly reliable.

IT can often feel like an unwinnable game, with limited resources, changing priorities, multiple stakeholders and increased demands. Too often, IT leaders must make decisions with insufficient information and without knowing the true effect on the business. Info-Tech’s framework removes the guesswork from what makes the business happy and predicts the impact of key decisions before they happen.

Info-Tech will walk you through the 3 real drivers of business satisfaction, and help IT leaders navigate a world in which:
  • Only 28% of Business Leaders are satisfied with the performance of IT
  • 67% of CIOs are not aligned with executives on the role of IT

Tremendous technology changes in recent years have made exponential leaps in the way we will communicate, interact and transact with each other for generations to come. The Internet of Things (IoT) has brought about the potential for low cost sensors on everything around us, on us and even in us. Blockchains and smart contracts with advances in encryption tools will provide for the immutable trust and transparency required to build the foundation of Web 3.0. The collection of all this data will provide startling context to how we behave and make decisions through Better Data Analytics. Advances in Artificial Intelligence through machine learning will change the way we interact with machines, our environment and each other forever. What does this mean to your business? What are the technology risks? We have now entered the Transformative Age – are you ready to do business in the future?

Every few seconds, someone’s identity is stolen because data is breached, computers are hacked, credit cards are compromised—and often, as a result, reputations are ruined. When this happens, fingers point at IT, other employees or problem clients. The fact is, the system we function under, combined with the conveniences of technology, is set up to fail due to flawed tech or simple scams. And unless employee and consumer behavior is fundamentally altered, it’s just a matter of time before those very employees and consumers all become victims.

You will learn:
  • Why we fall for the same old tricks over and over again—and how to stop the cycle once and for all
  • The difference between security awareness and security appreciation
  • How you can use various tools to ensure the data that criminals want are impossible to get
  • The implications of using social media, for individuals and businesses
